On September 4th, 2026 the Longview Union Fire Fighters, IAFF Local 828, jointly with the Longview Longshoremen, ILWU Local 21, will host their annual Salmon Derby charity event.
The two groups have been hosting this charity fishing derby since 2009. The derby has grown over the years with approximately 50 teams participating each year. Not only is it a full day of fishing, but we also host an auction/raffle and buffet dinner for all participants following the fish weigh-in. Our goal is to raise money to support charitable activities throughout our community.
As with years past, the proceeds are divided between the Longview Union Firefighters Benevolent Fund and the Longview Longshoremen’s Community Fund. The Firefighters Benevolent Fund supports local kids through the “Operation Warm” program, which provides warm coats for kids in the winter. The Fund is also used to provide vouchers for families that have had a fire in their home, sponsor local youth sports teams, support cancer victims, adopt in-need families around the holidays, and much more. This year all proceeds will benefit the AWPPW families affected by the Nippon chemical disaster.

- Weigh-in is 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm on 09/04/2026 at Local 21 Hall
- Barbecue and Live Auction following Weigh-In
- Prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Teams
- Prize awarded for Biggest Fish
