Structure Fire
Posted On: Nov 311, 2022
Longview Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a residential structure fire shortly after 2pm on Friday afternoon in the 200 block of 25th Avenue. The fire was reported by a neighbor who noted flames visible from the kitchen area of the residence. Three Engine Companies, one Ladder Company, and one Battalion Chief responded.
Longview Battalion Chief Jeff Thompson arrived to a small, story-and-a-half home with smoke showing from the attic. Firefighters quickly extinguished the bulk of the fire and removed two dogs from inside the structure. Firefighters attempted resuscitation efforts on the dogs which, unfortunately, were unsuccessful. Personnel remained on scene for several hours performing overhaul. The homeowner, who was not home at the time of the fire, confirmed he was the only occupant along with two dogs.
The home suffered moderate damage and cannot be occupied until repairs are made.
The origin and cause remain under investigation. The displaced occupant had made alternate living arrangements.
Longview Fire Department and Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue responded to the fire.
